Building Relationships

Some of our most meaningful relationships begin in the classroom. Our growing partnership with Theodore Roosevelt Elementary reminds us how vital school collaboration is to supporting youth both academically and emotionally.

From our earliest visits, the staff at Theodore Roosevelt made it clear: they care deeply about their students and the broader school community. Dr. Martinez, the school’s principal, has set the tone for that culture of care. “We have learned that the school principal Dr. Martinez is a fierce advocate for his students and is passionate about his students' future,” says Cecelia, our Program Director. “All the schoolteachers are very dedicated and truly care about their students. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Theodore Roosevelt Elementary school.”

For our professional mentors, being on campus isn’t just part of the job—it’s a chance to feel part of the school. Marbella, who supports youth in Ms. Lopez’s classroom, shared, “I am so grateful to be in Ms. Lopez’ class. She and all of the students make me feel like I am truly a part of the class. I am in awe of her passion for teaching. Her dedication and care for her student shows.”

Marbella also expressed appreciation for the school’s front office staff. “Thank you to Brenda in the administration office, I appreciate your effort in helping us mentors! Please know your hard work does not go unnoticed!”

Belinda, another professional mentor, reflected on her experience as well. “From the first day at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary, I have felt the warmth and welcoming spirit of the staff, teachers, and Dr. Martinez.” Working closely with Ms. Sicre to support a student, Belinda shared, “Working alongside Ms. Sicre, whose passion and compassion for her students are truly inspiring, has been a remarkable experience.”

Our partnership with Theodore Roosevelt Elementary is a reflection of the kind of connection we strive to build at every school we serve. With each classroom visit and shared goal, we’re reminded that when educators and mentors work together, the impact on children grows even stronger.
