Kicking Off the School Year with Our Newest Cohort
A new school year is almost here, and we started it off by throwing a karaoke party to welcome our latest cohort.
The Dune Room set the stage while the newest youth picked up their welcome certificates before the room turned into a night of karaoke. A mother and son took the mic for a duet. Siblings sang together. Some kids went for the spotlight while others warmed up as the evening went on, and by the end just about everyone found their way to the dance floor.
There was plenty happening off the stage too. Blue Zones Project Coachella brought their bike-powered smoothie machine, where kids pedaled to blend their own drinks. The Assistance League Coachella Valley sent every child home with a new teddy bear. Truly Nolen and the City of Indio helped make the whole night possible.
More than anything, it was a chance for families to come together. New families got to meet those who have been with us for over a year now, trading stories and getting to know the community their kids are growing up in. For our newest cohort, the party marks the start of a long road we get to walk together. 12+ years. From now through high school graduation, with their Friends showing up the whole way.
Starting all of that with a night this fun feels just right. Thank you to the Dune Room, Truly Nolen, the City of Indio, the Assistance League Coachella Valley, and Blue Zones Project Coachella for helping us begin.
