Our Monthly Literacy Fair
Building Skills and Sparking Joy
Each month, our clubhouse transforms into a lively marketplace of learning for our program youth. The Literacy Fair is more than a chance to pick out fun prizes; it is an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen reading and math skills, and celebrate growth.
Throughout the month, youth earn Shining Star Bucks by reading books, finishing assignments, and practicing new skills with their mentors. At the fair, they decide how to spend their earnings, weighing options and practicing math as they count, add, and subtract. Mentors guide them through each choice, turning every transaction into a lesson in budgeting and goal setting.
Prizes include books, toys, and special school supplies, and every youth automatically takes home a bilingual book to continue fostering a love of reading at home. These moments of learning and laughter remind us that education happens anywhere curiosity and encouragement come together.
